Dec 5, 2016 · Dec 4, 2016. #1. In an attempt to fix a leaky pump (see my other thread), I've run into an issue. I took the pump off and replaced the main wearable parts that come in the kit. I did not remove the large c-clip that relates the timing, as I understand it. Basically the front seal, head o-ring, miscellaneous o-rings and gasket on the top cover etc.. Take an old spark plug and open the gap to 1/4". Then hook it to a spark plug wire to it and ground the plug body to the engine. Turn the engine over and look at your spark. You should see a bright, bluish- white spark that will easily jump the 1/4" gap. Weak, short or yellowish/reddish spark will NOT do.
