I’ve had it tested by 2 different mechanic shops for the head gasket issue and both said it’s fine. I’ve changed everything. It will drive for a week or so just fine then I’ll notice a day it will be running hot. The reason they did this is they wanted the oil to be hotter and the exhaust gas temps to be lower. By having lower exhaust gas temps they were able to run 20% exhaust gas in the cylinder on the compression stroke rather than the normal 10%. Believe it or not, this actually increased fuel economy by 5 to 6%.
