Try starting the vehicle in park and giving it a few seconds, then apply the brake for a couple seconds before shifting.So far, the only thing I’ve found that consistently works is to allow the shift knob to cool down and also gently rotate the knob back and forth. Mine were not tightend to spec. The hole closest to the ignition is not a screw hole. grab a Philips screw driver or a metal rod, like ARC Welding Rod. Now press on the brake pedal. Then take the rod & push it up into that hole, now you should be able to shift into neutral.The shifter on my 2006 2500 has been sticky since I bought it, but finally the other day I went to shift it into drive and the whole shifter fell.
