I have a 2012 jeep jku sport, It runs hot only while driving, as soon as I park it and just let it idle it cooks down to around 208-215 and stays constant, while driving it has/will get as high as 245, but will fluctuate from 228-235. The jeep isn't running hot at all. The temp needle never gets past half or even up to half way. When I start the jeep the fan is not on.2012 JKU runs hot at highway speeds. I have a 2012 JK doesn't overheat but runs hotter than normal at highway seeds. Replaced thermostat radiator water pump and new factory fan .. Even bought that funnel system for purging the air. Also checked for exhaust gasses in the fluid. Several time's.JK running hot. my 2012 JK is running hotter than I think it should be. I took it to the dealer and they said its because the winch and spyder bumper. Then I took it to a local jeep expert ( Arabia's Overkill) and they said the winch would not affect the air circulation because its low and the bumper shouldn't either.On hot days (temps in 90's plus), my Jeep would overheat while driving regardless of speed. Higher speeds didn't help cool it off. In older vehicles that had questionable cooling fans, you could just drive 50-60 and the airflow through radiator was enough to keep your engine happy. Not so in the JK. Particularly if you're running the A/C.

It seems that there are more complaints from owners with 12 plus 3.6 JK's running hot, but in most instances it's normal. The variable speed fan is a better set up than prior year JK's. Beginning in 2012 with the 3.6 Chrysler went to a variable speed fan, basically low-med-high. A 3.6 will usually run at 210-230 with the AC off.
