For a 028, I would not use anything longer than an 18 inch bar.This is my own opinion.With a 20 inch you will not only have a longer bar but a lack of oil. A longer bar requires a larger supply of oil. You are pushing it with anything over 18. Remember this saw is only 2.87 cubic inch.
