You'll never go shield again. Here's my first attempt at writing a build for any game, really. This build revolves around the spear - and in particular, the spear's ability to charge into a dash attack. Hold Square, then dash in any direction to launch a deadly spin attack. Achilles spear is rather strong for a cast build. Slap on a zeus cast, try getting one or two chaos boons that improve your cast (either getting extra casts or bonus damage) and you are basically good to go

There are so many builds it's hard to say. General rule of thumb is to go Zeus/Dioynsus for fast attacks, Artemis/Aphrodite/Athena for higher base damage attacks, and Ares doom for something in between. So Zeus might be useful for attack (especially if you get the Flurry Jab hammer) and Ares/Zeus for the special. Additionally, the 50% crit chance on return really is huge. However, I find that spear special works best with Ares, Zeus, or Dio, and this hammer wants you to have a regular damage% boon on special. Throw the Special through enemies, rush to the spear, turn around, and spam casts. 150% bonus damage on a leveled-up cast can easily be 500 damage per cast or more.
